One Year of False “Peace” in Gaza
Last Updated on October 9, 2026.
WASHINGTON – On the one year anniversary of President Trump’s ceasefire agreement for Gaza, Win Without War Deputy Director Shayna Lewis released the following statement:
“One year following the ceasefire in Gaza brokered by President Trump, the genocide continues. Since President Trump’s Gaza deal was signed, the Israeli military has killed over 1,300 Palestinians, including 300 children. The Israeli government is killing countless more by maintaining restrictions on aid and medicine in Gaza and preventing the reconstruction of the hospitals it bombed. Since October 2025, Prime Minister Netanyahu has gradually expanded Israel’s “yellow line” de-facto annexation to include almost two-thirds of Gaza’s territory. Meanwhile, he and other senior Israeli officials publicly endorse the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, including openly discussing plans to force Palestinians in Gaza to emigrate en masse.
“This heartbreaking violence is Trump’s peace plan in action. The ceasefire agreement failed to include any real accountability mechanisms that might restrain the Israeli government’s aggression in Gaza. Moreover, his administration refuses to hold Netanyahu’s government to its word on ending bombings, withdrawing troops, or expanding humanitarian access. Indeed, with the recently announced sale of 40,000 U.S-made bombs to the Israeli military, Trump has only emboldened PM Netanyahu.
“The ongoing genocide, now entering its fourth year, is the predictable and intended outcome of Trump’s approach. Horrifically, it is just one aspect of his administration’s continuing assault on the safety of people across the Middle East and around the world. From establishing a corrupt and neocolonial Board of Peace structured to deny Palestinian self-determination in Gaza to obstructing accountability for murders of U.S. citizens by Israeli troops and settlers in the West Bank to joining PM Netanyahu in his long-sought war on Iran, Trump’s violence and impunity has produced catastrophic outcomes.
“Today, as always, we reaffirm our demand for a lasting peace in Gaza and beyond, and for justice and accountability for those who have been harmed.”
