Win Without War Condemns Iranian Government Violence, Trump’s War Plans

Washington – In response to President Donald Trump’s threats of military intervention in Iran, Win Without War Deputy Director Shayna Lewis released the following statement:
“We condemn the ongoing violence and repression in Iran and express our strong solidarity with people in Iran demanding freedom. People in Iran should determine their future, not Trump or war hawks in Washington.
“Brave protesters in Iran are now facing down extraordinary violence from their government as they demand their rights. No one, anywhere, should be attacked by their government for peaceful protesting. Unbelievably, Donald Trump is now trying to portray himself as an ally in the struggle for freedom. We don’t buy it. Both during his first and now in his current term, Trump has courted all-out war with the Iranian government, and now would attempt to use the suffering of people in Iran as an excuse to make it happen.
“Everything you need to know about Trump’s sympathy for people demanding their rights you can learn from looking at Minneapolis, where his ICE agents are assaulting, teargassing, and shooting activists. Congress should not let us be pulled into another destructive war on the absurd premise that Donald Trump is a principled warrior for free expression.”
