House Must Grind Trump’s War Machine to a Halt, Abroad and at Home

Last Updated on February 4, 2026.

WASHINGTON – In advance of multiple opportunities to put meaningful legislative checks on President Trump’s expansive use of executive power, Win Without War Deputy Director Shayna Lewis released the following statement:

“As soon as tomorrow, House lawmakers will vote on whether to keep President Trump’s war-and-repression machine humming by further funding the Department of Homeland Security’s lawless ICE operations at home and by allowing Trump’s criminal, unauthorized takeover of Venezuela to continue.

“These debates are linked. A president who believes he can wage unauthorized war for oil abroad is the same president who believes he can unleash unaccountable violence in our communities. And the Congress that sits idly by as it happens is complicit.

“People across the country, indeed worldwide, are demanding that the U.S. Congress act swiftly to rein in this White House. When they vote this week, members of the House must draw a hard line by voting to stop President Trump’s unauthorized war in Venezuela and to cut the flow of funding that fuels his reckless immigration enforcement agency. The message must be nothing less than ‘No Wars. No Kings.’”
