WashingtonWin Without War Executive Director Sara Haghdoosti released the following statement responding to President Biden’s speech on a potential agreement for a ceasefire and the release of hostages:

“We welcome President Biden’s remarks today laying out the contours of a much-needed deal for a ceasefire in Gaza, a release of hostages, a dramatic increase in humanitarian aid, and a path to a sustainable peace.

“This is what millions of people, world leaders, humanitarian and human rights organizations have called for when demanding a ceasefire. The plan the president outlined today is key to saving lives — and we join the President in calling on leaders to back a ceasefire immediately instead of deepening a war that could continue for many months to come.

“The President has rightly laid out a clear pathway to a ceasefire. We urge him to go further and use all tools at his disposal —, including the full force of U.S. law to cease offensive weapons shipments to the Israeli military — to secure it. Key to this deal being signed and its success is the President enforcing U.S. red lines when it comes to one of our closest allies. Hostages and people in Gaza, especially in Rafah, have no time to lose.”
