WASHINGTON – In response to U.S. military operations in Venezuela, Win Without War released the following statement:

“We utterly condemn President Trump’s decision to launch a reckless military operation in Venezuela, which appears to have thrown the country into further chaos while upending the U.S. Constitution and violating the separation of powers at the core of our democracy.

“Trump and his lackeys will attempt to dress it up, but make no mistake: This blatant act of aggression was an operation to satisfy the president’s basest instincts and, as Trump has repeatedly boasted, pave the way to seizing Venezuela’s oil. It is a perverse return of the ‘Monroe Doctrine’ and the naked, destructive imperialism of the 19th century.

“Violence abroad and deprivation at home is all this administration has to offer the world. When the dust clears from this made-for-social-media spectacle, lives will have been unnecessarily lost, families in Venezuela will still be suffering an economic catastrophe, and people across the United States will struggle amidst the overdose crisis, as the president who claims to be delivering justice in their name continues to rip away the healthcare and services meant to stabilize their families and communities. Congress must step in with immediate and decisive action to avoid more lawlessness and harm.”
