Win Without War Condemns Israeli Government Plan to Occupy Gaza City

Washington – Win Without War made the following statement in response to the Israeli government’s decision to take over Gaza City:
“As the world cries out for an end to the Israeli government’s horrific war in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has answered by yet again escalating the conflict.
“Despite Netanyahu’s feeble claims that this plan is not a prelude to an illegal Israeli government attempt to occupy and annex the entire Gaza Strip, that is precisely the direction to which this move points. Ever since Trump put forward an ethnic cleansing vision that includes ejecting Palestinians from Gaza and replacing them with foreign real estate developers in February, Netanyahu has acted relentlessly to make the strip unlivable for Palestinians.
“Make no mistake, the Israeli government’s plans will result in the Israeli military killing yet more Palestinians. This plan will worsen the famine that is already growing in Gaza. And it will endanger the lives of the remaining hostages, held by Hamas in increasingly abusive and dire conditions.
”Trump has expanded on the utterly broken U.S. policy of rationalizing dangerous Israeli escalations and supplying the weapons that make them possible. But Congress, which last week missed another opportunity to limit U.S. arms sales to the Israeli government, shares the blame. In the coming days, the House of Representatives should rally behind the ‘Block The Bombs’ Act, which would be a major step toward finally ending U.S. complicity in the Israeli government’s war and pressure Netanyahu to change course.”
