WWW Responds to Mike Pompeo SFRC Vote

Last Updated on April 23, 2018.

WASHINGTON — Win Without War Director Stephen Miles released the following statement regarding the Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote on CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s Secretary of State nomination:

“The ten Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee sent a clear message today that Mike Pompeo is too extreme and simply unfit to serve as our nation’s top diplomat.

“They were correct in their assessment last year that Rex Tillerson should not serve as Secretary of State, and their evaluation of Pompeo’s nomination is just as accurate.

“Indeed, Pompeo’s aversion to diplomacy is disqualifying.

“His anti-Muslim extremism is disqualifying.

“His opposition to LGBTQ+ and reproductive rights is disqualifying.

“His climate change denial is disqualifying.

“Mike Pompeo’s extreme and un-American views are simply disqualifying. While he may yet be confirmed by the smallest majority ever for a Secretary of State, the strong opposition to his nomination has sent a clear message to the world that while Mike Pompeo may speak for Donald Trump, he does not speak for the American people.”
