IDF Ground Operations Enter Southern Gaza, Ceasefire Desperately Needed

WashingtonWin Without War Executive Director Sara Haghdoosti released the following statement responding to reports of the Israeli government expanding its ground invasion of Gaza:

“We are dismayed at the news that the Israeli Defense Forces has escalated its attack on southern Gaza with a ground invasion. Especially given that the Israeli government told people to flee to the south of Gaza to avoid the conflict. With nowhere to go and the humanitarian crisis deteriorating day by day, this is extremely alarming.

“Last week, we saw images of hostages being reunited with their loved ones and a pause in the fighting that gave people in Israel and Gaza a crucial respite. Now more people are in danger and the very real risk of regional escalation is more likely.

“The Biden administration must use all tools at its disposal to pursue a lasting ceasefire, expanding on the temporary deal that saved both Palestinian and Israeli lives. An expanded ground invasion is a grave risk to both.”
