WashingtonWin Without War Executive Director Sara Haghdoosti released the following statement responding to President Biden issuing an executive order authorizing sanctions against extremist settlers and others involved in violence against Palestinians in the West Bank:

“We applaud the Biden Administration for this important step that sends a clear signal to the world that settler violence in the West Bank is unacceptable.

“The executive order is an important tool, giving the president the power to sanction anyone involved in the commission or planning of violence against civilians, or in enacting policies that threaten peace, security, or stability in the West Bank. It is crucial and necessary.

“We look forward to this executive order being enacted to ensure accountability for officials and supposed leaders that normalize violence based on ethnicity and race in the West Bank. We know that many will see this policy as a first step, and will wholeheartedly support its implementation to support Israeli and Palestinian security alike.”
