Recognizing Palestinian Humanity Shouldn’t Be a Fireable Offense

WashingtonWin Without War made the following statement in response to the firing of State Department contractor Shahed Ghoreishi:

“State Department communications staffer Shahed Ghoreishi was fired for attempting to express condolences and acknowledge the value of Palestinian lives in U.S. government communications.

“Unfortunately, the idea that acknowledgement of Palestinian pain is a threat to a career in public service is nothing new and has happened across multiple administrations — and it fails all of us. U.S. foreign policy suffers when those who practice it are punished for recognizing the humanity of the people it impacts.

“It’s shameful that Shahed has become the target of retaliation and racist smears. This kind of blatant bigotry should not go unnoticed, nor should it ever be tolerated.”
